After dinner, we headed out for a hot walk through the bush, in one of our orchards. We brought a bucket to dig up leeks, but there were too many bugs, so we went as quickly as we could, to get in and out without getting eaten alive!
But, in true Josi-Style, we stopped for some quick photo-ops.

ReplyDeletewhat do you use for bug spray with your family? do you just use 'off' or have you found something that works that is less toxic?
Amy..
DeleteOn this trip out we forgot our bug spray.
When my kids were littler I used the "buzz" patch. They are little squares that are all natural and you can stick them on the baby's stroller, car seat, etc.. and it repels bugs- naturally without putting anything on their skin.
We use a local product sometimes "two herbal mamas", and the bug spray by "eco- kid" (available at loblaws)
I saw an article in a magazine the other day that made me think of you...
It's a recipe for bug spray and seems pretty simple. When I find a cool spray bottle (and a couple ingredients) I will try to make it too. Here it is:
3 1/2 oz witch hazel
1/2 teaspoon lemongrass oil
1/2 teaspoon eucalyptus oil
1/2 teaspoon citronella oil
Combine in a spray bottle
If you give it a try, let me know how it goes.
See you soon!
